The idea for this book came to me in 2008. There should be a picture book that explained the entire story of our existence, sort of a photo album of our life here on Earth looking back after ten thousand years in heaven.
The title The Love That Is True is an attempt to redefine the term Love. There are so many things that pretend to be true love in this world that are not. I think the Hebrews had 5 names for love. We love cheese puffs, we love dogs, we love movies, we ‘make’ love, etc. There are so many meanings that this word has to be redefined when referring to the pure love of God, or we get messed up.
Here are some of my additional thoughts on these topics from my 20 years of walking with the Lord. I sincerely hope this book will impact your families for all time, as the understanding of God’s love is key. Without that, we don’t understand God.
00- PrologueIt is very important that we keep in mind, and teach to our children the reason we exist. We are not a cosmic random event on a swirling ball in the outer rim of one of hundreds of billions of spiral galaxies. We were specifically created to be loved, and to love by an amazing God. Not only that, we have a key roll to play in the real cosmic drama that continues to unfold all around us. |
01- The TrinityI don’t think we’ll fully understand what “God is Love” means until the last day, when some people don’t get to be with Him forever. Don’t get to be with Love forever. Love is all around us, and we take it and God for granted so much of the time. |
02 – CreationDo you realize that the nature of the universe is God? God was everything until He created something else. The act of creation was for God an act of limiting Himself. Something that gives me great faith is that God didn’t initially have a name. You don’t need a name for the thing that is everything. Man needed a name to call God, so God came up with “I am”. |
03 – AngelsAngels were created before Humans, and are made of Spirit. The term Angel means messenger (or helper). Although God could do everything, He likes to delegate. One angel can wipe out an entire human army, and Jesus said he could call ten thousand of them if he wanted. Angels are intelligent, powerful, and fully see the spiritual battle that is mostly hidden from us. Sometimes, we catch glimpses of their world, like in Daniel 10:12-14. |
04 – EarthIn the observable universe, there are about 70 sextillion stars (or 70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000). Our God is not a small God, and obviously, he loves to create things. The Earth is a very amazing planet. There are so many things that enable Earth to support life: the magnetic field, the distance from the Sun, lots of liquid water, big enough to keep an atmosphere, small enough to not crush everything, Oxygen to Carbon Dioxide ratio, asteroid protection from larger outer planets, and the list goes on. I hope there are other planets out there like ours, but from all the current research, it doesn’t look like there are many. |
05 – LifeThe variety of life on earth is staggering. There are between 2 and 100 million species living on Earth with us. Just like the number of stars, God loves to create. Any of these species has the amazing ability to grow, eat, move, reproduce, and much more. To understand how complex life really is, humans have 50 trillion (50,000,000,000,000) cells in our bodies, with 211 distinct cell types. To go even further, investigate how one cell is. |
06 – HumansHumans are amazing among the animals. We can reason, think about life and God, understand complex language, manipulate tools, digest a wide variety of food, etc. As well, we are made in God’s image, allowing us to understand God’s love, and imitate that love to others. |
07 – War in HeavenYes, there was a war in heaven. My theory is that Satan was jealous of God’s love for us. Another option is that he just got fed up with worshiping God, and wanted to BE worshiped. Either way, it was simple pride that caused the rebellion. Satan knows he can’t win, but he also knows how to hurt God (by hurting us, and keeping us from a relationship with God). |

09 -Jesus’ BirthWhat a glorious, but strange day. The author of life, the King of Kings becomes a baby to a nearly penniless couple. Jesus came to remind us of God’s love, and to pay the price for our sin so that we can still be with God forever in heaven. |
